Finals Week Essentials

Yay, Christmas is almost here! Which means hot cocoa, santa and oh yeah, finals. Whether its midterms or finals, the end of the semester means test time. With your head spinning from exams galore, its hard to remember the little things. Here’s a list of my favorite things to keep in your bag as your “study first aid kit” while at the library, Starbucks, or Panera.

  • Hand Cream: Nothing is worse than having dry hands when trying to write out a paper or flashcards. I love the scents from Bath and Body Works, especially in scents that go along with the season.
  • Chargers: Although I agree it can be totally annoying to carry around these bulky cords in your bag, its better than being stuck with a dead laptop or iPhone. Stay connected (literally).
  • Caffeine: I may have a slight addiction to caffeine, and nothing is better than having it by your side during a eyelid dropping study session. (Currently at Starbucks my favorite is the white chocolate peppermint mocha).
  • Loungewear: While it may be tempting to wear pajamas to study in, don’t do it. Slip into some comfy leggings or trendy, soft jogger pants and a loose sweatshirt or t-shirt.
  • Notebooks: Personally when I study for exams I pick out a cute notebook and create a section for each exam and cover the entire thing in notes.
  • Highlighters: These babies are great, there’s something about the bright colors that make boring textbooks so much more fun to read. Plus if they are allowed in your exam, take advantage of that.
  • Colorful Pens: Similar to the highlighters, colorful pens make it so much more fun to study. I prefer gel pens because they are so much smoother.
  • Minty Gum: Psychology says if you chew the same gum when you study as when you take the test then you will memorize details better. Hey, it doesn’t hurt.
  • Flashcards: I am a huge fan of flashcards, writing them down helps you memorize then get someone to quiz you. Easy as that.
  • Watch: Even if your classroom has a clock I recommend bringing your own watch to keep track of time and reduce stress.
